What the color says
Why purple?
Purple sits halfway between red’s energy and blue’s calm. It’s rare in nature, and for centuries it was the most expensive dye there was: it came from sea snails and was at times worth more than its weight in gold.
In 1856 William Perkin, an 18-year-old chemist, made the first synthetic dye by accident, and it turned out purple. Viola keeps that taste for the unusual: a page for introspection. Journals, lyrics, letters you won’t send and the project nobody has seen yet.
